Jay Chou (Initial D)

"Jay Chou in Initial D", this is how I remember him. Although I know that he is a songwriter cum singer of his own rights, I have taken very little notice of him. I only try to dig out some facts about him due to the recent request. My view is written as follow.

Jay Chou is born on 18 January 1979, time of birth is unknown. He has been described by my reader, who requested an analysis of his Bazi, as being a recluse but a very filial son. Below is his Bazi Chart.

He is a 乙 Yi Wood person born in winter. His Day Master is sitting on 酉 You Rooster, the Xin Metal, showing him to have sharp and strategic mind. It is a person that should not be underestimate or taken lightly. Born on the month of 丑 Chou Ox, that gives him an Indirect Wealth Structure, he is very business-minded and one that has a hard-working nature too.

His Bazi natal chart which is cold needed the fire to warm him. Although the 丙 Bing Fire is not found in any of the natal chart pillar up to the Day Pillar and hence, makes it less ideal, he still has the 丁 Ding Fire inside the 午 Wu Horse (Year Branch). The Ding Fire represents his Eating God star. Looking at the natal chart, you will notice that the Wu Horse and Chou Ox is harm relationship. The Chou Ox that represents his Wealth Star as well as his Father Star which is also sitting in the parent palace. It is harmed by the Wu Horse. It is reported that his father had leaved him at the age of 14. This has greatly influence his nature, making him an introvert, quiet and shy person. It is also this reason that he is very protective of his mother. The harm has also influenced some of the songs he composed which touched the society and family issues. Some of these examples are songs like "Coward" which discussed societal ills such as drug addiction, "Dad, I am back" that touch on domestic violence, and "Maternal Grandmother" and "Listen to your Mother" that voice in regard of family values.

By looking at his natal chart, the present of another Yi Wood side by side indicates a very acute competition in his life. As a person he also has a very competitive nature. It also means that there are other as good and as popular as him. He has won numerous Awards as a singer, song-writer and producer. It has been reported that although he has won the Favorite Male Artist of the 20th Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan, he did not attend the event. This has caused a lot of negative criticism.

As being a reclusive, you may liken this attitude to the Chou Ox which is one of the four graveyards as well as the Lonely Stars. However, I would say that even a person with an extrovert and highly enthusiastic nature will become a recluse and seek solitude because of the constant attack from paparazzi and attention from the media.

The Law of Attraction (Part II)

After publishing Lee-Hom Bazi recently, my email is filled with request to write about Lee-Hom luv life, and others celebrities like David Tao, IL DIVO and Jay Chou. You might wonder what this title has to do with those requests and why it is a Part II version. It is actually a request from a reader and my friend, Chris, from bazidiary.com has actually written about him under the title of "The Law of Attraction". Hence, I will not go into details here. I only one to highlight a few points that I think make these two persons charts different.

Again I will call this guy, "Joker." His is also in an entertainment industry but his career is a bit different from Lee-Hom. He is a magician. There is some similarity in both of these guy charts. As you see below, both of them have the same Day Master and same structure. Both have the Rob Wealth Star at the branch and thier Hurting Officer Star are also a secondary Qi in the 巳 Si snake. It is from here on that the charts begun to differ.

The point that I want to highlight is Useful God. It is a very important element that makes the Bazi Chart of a person balance. I will not elaborate on how the Useful God is derived in detail because it is very technical. I believe you really need to study this in an academy to know the details. I will just let you know that both of them have the same Useful God that is water. How theirs differ is the polarity of the water element and this has makes Lee-Hom a superstar while Joker still searching for his route to success.

Both of these guys are born in summer month so their charts are considered hot. They need the water to cool the charts. The water element cans categories into yang, 壬 Ren Water, and yin, 癸 Gui Water. One is water of the ocean (Ren Water) and the other is the rain, mist or dew water (Gui Water). To cool a hot chart we prefer to use the Gui Water. Hence, we know that the quality of the Useful God for Joker, Ren Water is less ideal compare to Lee-Hom.

In the traditional bazi reading, these two guys have actually chosen the wrong scope of job to work in. This is because traditionally, you are always advice to work in the Useful God element to be able to achieve success. Preferably both Joker and Lee-Hom should work in a water industry like shipping, transportation or tourism industry. I am sure if these two guys were to seek Bazi consultation with me and given the career advice above, I can imagine that they both will be freaked-out.

So if not a career choice, how is the Useful God useful then? In my view, besides using Useful God as a guide to career choices, it can also show how opportunities are present to you in your life.

A brief history of Lee-Hom, he is born in New York and studied in Pittsford. Lee-Hom has signed a professional recording contract while visiting his grandparents in Taiwan at the age of 19. It is in the Luck Pillar of 乙未Yi Wei. This has set his career in the music industry for life. As you know Lee-Hom's Useful God is water. Water denotes movement or travel. His Useful God has presented the opportunity to him while he travelled from New York to Taiwan to visit his grandparents. In the Luck Pillar of Yi Wei, the Yi wood, Seven Killings Star, jut-out on the stem. It is the Seven Killing that gave him the guts to take the offered at such a young age and also it is this Seven Killing that would not let the top shot in music industry to pressure him into pursuing fulltime singing career in Taiwan. Hence, he was able to finish his studies in music. The Wei Goat, Friend Star, on the branch of the Luck Pillar brings along the 亥 Hai Pig which is Wealth Star to Lee-Hom. Therefore, we can see that this Friend Star has brought Lee-Hom opportunities in making a steady income from the age of 19. It also bring good name to him.

At the same age of Lee-Hom, Joker has travelled away from his home country too. Again Useful God is present. He was in the Luck Pillar of 丁未 Ding Wei. The Wei Goat, Friend Star, formed a three harmony combination of wood. However, this combination is not a favourable one. Somehow during this period, opportunity that present was slipped out of his hand to someone else who was more reputable. This may due to the Ding on the stem of the Luck Pillar which represents comfort zone or health matter. In the the Luck Pillar of 戊申Wu Shen, he has actually move back to his home country. According to him, he is applying a job in Japan and preparing to further his studies in the art of magic. This will be a much positive change to his current situation. I would suggest that he heads west to USA. I think it will present more opportunities to him than Canada or Australia.

One more point that I wish to highlight is the fact that the core value of both Joker and Lee-Hom are different too. This can be seen by the home branch below the Day Master. Lee-Hom's Day Master is sitting on the Si Snake that is the Direct Resource Star with the two secondary stars that are Hurting Officer and Rob Wealth. For Lee-Hom, he valued creativity, his work as well as his friends and fans in his life. The Direct Resource also represent comfort zone to Lee-Hom. Hence as a person he chilled or easy going.

Joker's Day Master is sitting on the Hai Pig which contains the Ren Water and Jia Wood. This is the Wealth Star and Direct Officer Star respectively. Hence, Joker valued stable and steady income in life. A more serious fellow compared to Lee-Hom. Hai Pig is also the Useful God to Joker which means opportunities abound so don't lose faith.

Artists: Jacky Cheung & Wang Lee-Hom

I am a fan of these two artists, Jacky Cheung and Wang Lee-Hom. What have they in common that make me luv them? Yeah, basically I like their songs and their style of singing but they are so many singers out there. You wonder why them? Why do I attract to these two guys? Let see what Bazi can tell. Yes! Bazi can tell why you attracted to certain people and not others.

Before I jump into the attraction parts, let me briefly explain the Bazi of Jacky & Lee-Hom.

Jacky Cheung is born in summer, 10 July 1961, the birth hour is unknown. His Day Master is a Jia Wood. Hence, his Hurting Officer Star is the Ding Fire which is prosperous in the summer month. Hurting Officer is very good for artistic showmanship and creative performance which is exactly what Jacky is doing.

As we all know that to be a famous, you need the Rob Wealth Star and if not, the least is the Peach Blossom Star. If you have both, then it is even better. You will notice that Jacky and Lee-Hom do not have even one of Peach Blossom Star in the three Pillar of their Natal Chart. They depend on the Rob Wealth Star alone to bring them to fame and fortune.

Jacky has it on the stem of the Month Pillar in his natal chart. It is the Yi Wood. However it also means acute competition for him. He did not rise to immediate supremacy in the Hong Kong singing industry after wining the Amateur 18-Hong Kong district national singing contest. It is well known in the 80s, the industry is dominated by a few that are Leslie Cheung, Alan Tam, Anita Mui and Danny Chan.

He started to gain fame during the 90s when his song "Loving You More Every Day" (每天爱你多一些) become a massive hits and attracted many fans. His subsequently released albums like True Love Expression (真情流露) and Love Sparks (爱火花) pave way for him to become superstar. However, he still need to shares the limelight with other three namely, Andy Lau, Leon Lai and Aaron Kwok as the Cantopop Four Heavenly Kings (四大天王).

Lee-Hom is born in summer 17 May 1976, birth hour is also unknown. His Day Master is Ji Earth. There is the Geng Metal in his natal chart represents the Hurting Officer Star. The Geng Hurting Officer is hard-working, rough and altruist. Lee-Hom is known to write his own songs. He also coined his music "chinked-out" due to the heavily influenced by traditional Chinese music in many of his work, a sign of loyalty or altruism toward his ancestry.

In 1995, he has signed a professional recording contract. Since then, Lee-Hom has become one of the new songwriters and musicians revolutionizing the Chinese language music industry. He is active in all areas of music production, from composing to producing, music arrangement, lyric writing and directing his own music videos. All this is exactly a hard-working Geng Metal guy. But then songwriting and all the active involvement in the backroom music production is actually more of an Eating God Star's activities. Hence, I believe that there may be a Xin Metal located in the Hour Pillar. He also plays many musical instruments like the piano, violin, drums, guitar, bass/electric guitar, erhu, vibraphone, harmonica and Chinese flutes. Hurting Officer usually is multi-talented. As you can see in the case of Lee-Hom, the Geng Metal is more hands-on compare to others element of Hurting Officer in the sense that he is willing to take the initiative to learn all the musical instruments. His Rob Wealth star, Chen Dragon is sitting on the Branch of the Year Pillar. It does not penetrate to the Heaven. Hence, he can enjoy his fame without sharing it with others.

Different Element of Hurting Officers

Looking at the two performers above, Jacky Cheung, the Ding Fire Hurting Officer and Lee-Hom, the Geng Metal Hurting Officer, you will notice their difference. In concert, Jacky looks more flamboyant, sharp and attractive compare to Lee-Hom which is more down to earth. Jacky choice of dressing in a shimmering suit also highlighted his sense of showmanship. Lee-Hom dress sense is simpler and more sedate, opting for a rough rocker style image.

Back to why I like them?

Before I go further, I must briefly introduce my natal chart so that my explanation will make sense. My Day Master is Wu Earth and my favourable elements are wood, metal and water. When you find a person to your liking usually this person has the element that is favourable to you in his natal chart.

In Jacky Cheung natal chart, the wood and metal elements are easily seen on the stem. The wood element is Jacky himself and his Rob Wealth while the metal especially the Xin Metal is his Influence Star. This mean his Jia Wood personality and charm, his fame as well as his good name are what I liked in him. Since it is all on the stems, this is the first impression of him that I notice and like.

For Lee-Hom although it has been some time that he breaks into the music industry, it takes me a while to growth in favour of his work which is represented by the Hurting Officer, Geng Metal. The Geng Metal is found in the secondary stems of the two Si Snakes. I think I will growth to luv his performance more. The Gui Water on the stem in his natal chart is a combo for Wu Earth. Gui Water represents his Indirect Wealth Star. Yes, you can say I am attracted to his wealth. It is an admirable quality in the sense that a person so young can be successful and able to make his own fortune through his hard work and performing talent. It is a quality that I think we should emulate.

Can Your Character Differ From Your Bazi Chart

Recently we have a group discussion on Bazi with some of my classmates. The topic of character cropped-up. It seems that some of the people they know do not reflect what their Bazi shows.

It has also makes me wonder? Can a character differ that much from the Bazi Chart? Well, a Bazi Chart will not lie, people will.

However, people can also consciously improve their selves in term of character, personality and how they deal with people. With a constant and persistence changes and improvement, they can imprint certain personality traits into their life that they may lack or improve their personality. This conscious action taken cannot be read by Bazi. Does this mean that a person whole character will be totally different from the Bazi if they consciously change it? Probably not! In such cases, I guess you will see more of the positive side of each element or the Ten Gods it represents in the person's Bazi Chart rather than the bad one. That is why upbringing, education, training and constant nurturing are very important to a child from young.

Again there are people who carry a superficial character when dealing with others. In such case, this person does not show his true character or partially reveal a small side of himself to others. This does not necessary mean they are bad as most of us do this often enough to strangers or acquaintances. As we grow older we tend to protect ourselves more and show less of our true nature. This is because our society dictates certain behaviors are acceptable while others are not.

However, when a person deliberately hide his true nature in the hope to cheat or gain something out of others then it is bad. The Yi Wood together with Xin Metal has these abilities. We automatically like to use the word "cunning" to describe this two stems. However, this does not mean all the people with Yi Wood or Xin Metal elements in their chart are doom to be bad guys on the block or this two stems is a bad element to have in a person chart. There are still others elements to factor in a person's Bazi Chart. Well, I also agree with Ailing that "cunning" is negative choice of word to describe the two stems some times.

Politician also uses the Yi and Xin often enough. Cunning, scheming and calculating are some of the best choice of words for them. Ironically, the politicians here lack the best nature of the Yi plus the Xin, which is communication skill. With this two stems in a person Bazi, he or she has way with words. In a positive aspect, this person can tone down unpleasant news or make something simple and common sound wonderfully interesting. Unlike Jia Wood people who are blunt and straightforward, they have the ability to deliver a criticism across and yet, without making others lose face, feel embarrass or hurt. You will always find them nice to talk to.

A businessman too needs to be shrewd and astute in their business dealing. Again, this is the ability of the Yi and Xin. We also want some of the Yi and Xin natures as they have better discerning skill then other stems. Hence, they are able to judge other people character better.

I think the last explanation of why a person character differs from his Bazi is that the date of birth he provided is simply not his and hence, the Bazi Chart does not show the person's character.

In my conclusion, a person's natures will not differ far from his Bazi. It is how much he chooses to reveals his inherent abilities or natures (the elements in his Bazi) to others.

When You Walk the Same Path

My best friend, Beak Ling, ask me to look into the Bazi Chart of Richard Li Tzar Kai, youngest son of Asia's richest man Li Ka-Shing. So here his Bazi Chart without the birth hour.

In this article, I will mainly touch relationship matter. However if you do not know who is Richard Li, I have included a brief introduction. Richard Li is a Chinese Canadian businessman based in Hong Kong. He is chairman and executive director of PCCW Limited and Pacific Century Group in Hong Kong, chairman of Singapore-based Pacific Century Regional Developments Limited, and a nonexecutive director of the Bank of East Asia. He is the younger son of successful entrepreneur Li Ka-Shing and brother of Victor Li.

There have been many rumours about Richard Li's private life. He has been linked to many intelligent and independent ladies from Singapore lawyer, Japanese reporter, Portuguese judge and the list goes on. His romantic life has always attracted constant attention from the paparazzi but remain secondary to his business dealing.The latest woman in his life is Isabella Leong, a 21-years old Hong-Kong actress. The headline in the news ran that she has given birth to his son on 26 April 2009.

At the same time it is rumoured that Richard Li is still going-out with his girlfriend of two years, Rachel, who is of mixed Chinese-British descent.

So how do all this can be seen in the Bazi Chart?

Richard Li's Day Master is a Xin Metal. The Star that represents the girlfriends in his Bazi Chart is the Yi Wood. It is also known as Indirect Wealth Star. The star can be found hidden in Wei Goat. If this star represents Rachel then where does Isabella Leong stands.

In the Richard Bazi Chart, there is a half combo of Wei~Hai that jut the Mao Rabbit. Hence, there is another woman invisible in the scene that will come into Richard's life. This invisible Mao Rabbit very much described Isabella situation. The half-combo is complete in the Luck Pillar of Gui Mao. At the age of 42 that is during March 2008, Richard met Isabella through the introduction by Michelle Yeoh.

However, in the Hai Pig, there is this secondary Qi of Jia Wood which is the Direct Wealth Star to Richard Li. It is also represent the Wife Star. The Wife Star will only become apparent in Richard life in the next Luck Pillar of Jia Chen.

Will Isabella become his wife?

Let take a look at Isabella's Bazi Chart below. She is born in 23 June 1988, the hour of birth is unknown.

At the age of 21, she is still in the Luck Pillar of Bing Chen. In her Bazi Chart, from the Year Pillar up to the Day Pillar there is no true Husband Star that is Jia Wood, the Direct Officer so the secondary star, Seven Killings is taken into account. It is the boyfriend star, Yi Wood that is found inside the 辰 Chen Dragon.

The Chen Dragon in the Luck Pillar and Year Pillar is a self-punishment which involved the boyfriend star, Yi Wood, and also the Gui Water, Wealth Star to Isabella. The Chen Dragon in the Luck Pillar is also a combo with You Rooster in the Day Pillar, suppose to form Metal. However, the Luck Pillar is not conducive for to form the Metal. What does it mean that the Luck Pillar is not conducive for to form the Metal? In this case, metal is the Output Star which represents the children element. She gave birth to a son which is born out of wedlock. In the olden day, this son will not be recognized in the eye of the family and also the law as the true heir.

Her relationship luck will only begin in the Luck Pillar of Yi Mao. Hence, the possibility of her getting married in this Luck Pillar, Bing Chen, is quite low. There will be a slim chance for her to get married in 2010, Geng Yin year. If she passes this chance present by Geng Yin year, most probably the wife of Richard Li, represent by the Jia Wood in the Hai Pig is not Isabella.

What they see in each other? Or what is their affinity with each other?

Richard Li is born in winter. Here we can deduce his chart is cold and need fire to warm it and also the earth element to control the strong water as well as produce the metal element.

In Isabella's Bazi chart, she is born in summer and she is also a Ji Earth person surrounded by Rob Wealth star another earth element which is exactly what Richard Li likes. This is where the attraction begins. Rob Wealth Star is also a type of Peach Blossom Star bring fame to a person. The nature of Rob Wealth is charming and friendly.

Isabella's Bazi chart is hot so she needed water and also the metal element to weaken the strong earth element. Richard's Day Master is already the Xin Metal. In addition, he is born in winter can cool off Isabella's hot chart. Xin Metal represents showmanship while the Hurting Officer Star (Hai Pig) represents good communication skill and a charming boyish personality. These are what Isabella found attractive about Richard Li. The half combo of Wei~Hai that form wood in Richard Li's chart. The wood element represents the wealth to Richard Li which is also another factor of what Isabella wanted as the wood can control the strong earth element in her chart.

So these are the attraction that's pull them together. Bazi can also explain why two people like each other by looking at their element and Ten Gods.

YTL Conglomerate (Part II)

How to determine the Jia Zi for a conglomerate? It is a difficult to determine but I think it can be done. Below is my analysis.

YTL Corporation started off as a construction company in 1955 by Tan Sri Dato' Seri Yeoh Tiong Lay. It is listed in the Bursa Malaysia in 1985 and since then it has growth from a single entity to a conglomerate. The group's key businesses are utilities, high speed rail, cement manufacturing, construction contracting, property development, hotels & resorts and technology incubation.

Let's take a look at YTL Corporation as a construction company before its growth into a conglomerate. A construction company involves the elements of wood and earth. The two elements involve is yang in nature that is Jia Wood and Wu Earth. There are three Jia Zi which contain Jia Wood and Wu Earth. I have eliminated the two Jia Zi and chosen the Jia Xu Pillar as the construction business.Why? The woods that are used to build buildings, houses and condominiums are dead wood. There are used and later discarded. Furthermore, the houses and building must be solid and hard apart from the land it is constructed on. At the Wu Yin and Jia Chen pillars, the earth is still moist with the leftover Qi from the winter. The woods in these two pillars are also living and strong woods. It not fit the category of usable wood, woods that are being chopped for many usages.

Over the passage of time, YTL Corporation has growth from a simple construction company to an investment holding and management company with a group of subsidiaries companies that involve in various other businesses under its flagship.

Definition for Investment Holding and Management Company

Broadly speaking, the term "investment holding and management company" might be used to describe any company that owns a majority of shares in another company. The company itself does not produce goods or services and it only purpose is to own shares of other companies (or owning other companies outright). Depending on its percentage of shares ownership, it may also control and manage the other companies. Its main incomes are from the payment of dividends, rent or interest. It allows the reduction of risk for the owners and can allow the ownership and control of a number of different companies. The parent company in a conglomerate corporation is usually a holding company.

The owned companies may be:

• Subsidiary companies ~ the holding company owns more than 50% thus giving control.
• Associated companies ~ the parent company owns 20-50%. This is a large shareholding should provide considerable influence (but not control) over the associated company.
• Related companies ~ similar to associated companies. The holding company own relatively fewer than 20% of shares in another company. It is held because of expected good dividends or the two companies are co-operating with each other in some area of business.

Should we change YTL Corporation Jia Zi Pillar?

Given the different function between holding company and a construction company, would YTL Corporation Jia Zi look different now?

One of the many possible branches for conglomerates can be found in the four graveyards (Chen Dragon, Wei Goat, Xu Dog and Chou Ox) because of its abilities to store other elements. Apart from the four graveyards, the Ren Water which represents ocean. There are many things which are hidden inside the ocean. Hence, Hai Pig is another possibility. However, since we are dealing with a company which started off as a construction company, I would look into the four graveyards.

Since the main core business of YTL Corp is now a investment holding company, the Xu Dog branches may be remain as it ability to store the Ding Fire as well as contain the Xin Metal. As YTL Corp also overseeing many types of businesses under its subsidiaries, hence the Bing Fire suits well as to sit on Heavenly Stem of the pillar. Bing Fire is the fire of the sun which shines everything in its path. Apart from this, the Jia Wood of the original stem also produces the Bing Fire in the cycle of production. However in reality the Bing Fire gives life to the wood element. This very much describe the YTL Corporation from a construction company to a conglomerate. The wood produces the fire, the fire also growth the wood.
